This is a very common question from our new clients. And we are happy to provide a general timeline. But please remember that each UNIQUE swimming pool is a custom design which means that each one is going to have its own timeline. In addition, we must take into consideration the weather, which is not often a factor, but it can at times cause a slowdown or stoppage of progress. And finally, we understand that it can take some time for you, our valued clients, to decide exactly what you envision for your dream oasis, so that will have an impact on the final time frame for your custom UNIQUE swimming pool.

Design

The design phase of a custom pool is obviously going to be longer than that of a predesigned cookie cutter pool. But we know that our clients understand that we want to meet and exceed all of their wants and needs, which can take some time for design and engineering. We allot anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks for a custom pool design.

Permitting

At UNIQUE, we handle all of the permitting and paperwork that is required for the installation of your swimming pool. We can even work with you to meet the requirements of your homeowner’s association for documents and drawings. In our experience, it can take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks for all of the necessary permits to be approved. If we find that there is an unusual slowdown in the process, we will inform you immediately and do everything that we can to meet the requests of your municipality officials to keep the process moving in a timely fashion.

Excavation

This is when most homeowners begin to get really excited, as they see some progress being made. We allot a week for the excavation process which will include the outline of the pool being spray painted in your yard, as well as the actual digging of the pool. It is not uncommon for the digging to begin a few days after the pool is marked out in your yard, as there could be other digs in process.

Steel. Plumbing and Electrical

After the pool is dug, a team comes in to lay the steel for your custom pool. In addition, the plumbing and electrical are being routed under the steel and around your property as needed. Crews will also be in and out of your yard as they construct the cleaning system, the lighting, water features and filtration systems of your pool. This phase of construction normally takes about 2 weeks but can be longer if your UNIQUE custom pool is more intricate, extremely large or includes a great deal of automation.

Gunite and Plastering

This is the phase that actually pulls all of the random parts together to really look like your dream swimming pool. The Gunite is a sprayed concrete that actually forms the shell of your pool over the steel and plumbing. Once the Gunite is installed, it must cure before the interior finish can be added or any tile work. This process can take from 1 week to 3 weeks depending on the complexity of your pool and the interior finish that you have selected.

The Finishing Touches

As your UNIQUE custom pool is being finished, other features such as patios, landscape, and outdoor living spaces can be added to complete your dream backyard. These final touches can take 1 to 4 weeks depending on the size of your yard and the features that you have selected.

A good general estimate for a residential custom pool installation is between 8 to 12 weeks. But factors such as the weather, availability of materials and workload can have an impact on that estimate. However, the one piece of information that we can promise you is that once your UNIQUE custom swimming pool and outdoor living space is completed, you will never be sorry about the time that you waited to see your dream turned into reality. Our customers and their satisfaction are our number one concern, and we will do everything in our power to ensure that you are nothing less than thrilled with your UNIQUE custom swimming pool for years to come.
