The gas fire pit anchors the seating area and serves as a table when not lit. And though the view of the mountain is limited from these seats, they do offer the best view of the natural boulder waterfall that cascades into the pool.

Welcome to the Sabean Project

This Scottsdale project is nothing short of spectacular which is only fitting because it is located atop a majestic mountain ridge. While square footage in this backyard is limited by the grade of the property, there is no sense minimal space, because of how carefully it was designed. Using Travertine pavers throughout the patio as well as for the pool coping and the bar top creates a flow that feels very expansive.

This magnificent pool and spa would be the crown jewel in any other outdoor living space, but here the mountain view is the real key. So the pool and spa were designed to complement the beauty of the natural surroundings. Sweeping curves draw your eye out to the mountain view and to the horizon regardless of where you are sitting or standing in this mountain top oasis.

But when the sun sets and the view fades to nothing but darkness, this cobalt blue pool takes center stage. A soft blue glow radiates from the pool and spa as the night air is filled with the sound of water trickling over the waterfall, that will soon be the only natural stone to be seen. Though there are other homes around this backyard, each guest quickly forgets that they are even near the city as they take in the views from this lavish, resort style property.

The stack stone-faced wall adds privacy for the bar area and the seating area without obstructing the view from other parts of the property.

Fire bowls are located in select areas that will not obstruct the view but will indicate boundaries at night. The inset lighting in the steps also make it safe and easy to navigate after dark.

The design of this oasis was masterfully crafted to enhance the space and add functionality, without blocking the view of the mountains from inside the home. The soft curves throughout the design mirror the curved floor to ceiling windows at the back of the home, connecting the flow from the indoor living space to the outdoor living space.

As the sun sets, guests begin to realize that there are lighting fixtures strategically located throughout the yard that were completely unnoticed during the daylight hours. But at night, these lights provide the perspective needed to appreciate the size of the space and the intricate architectural features that would be lost in darkness.

At night the pool and spa become the focal point of the property by adding a mysterious blue glow to this outdoor living space. The negative edge of the pool truly appears to be an optical illusion.
