The useable space on this lot was very limited. But Unique Companies design maximized the function and flow of every buildable square foot.
Welcome to the Molaver Project
Perched on the side of a mountain, this modern loft style home is complemented by the UNIQUE outdoor living space built by Chris Griffin. The lines in the terraced patio areas as well as the negative edge pool anchor architecture of the home to the outdoor living space; while the use of a native plant palette created the visual connection to the natural mountain setting while also introducing texture and color to the otherwise neutral tones of the home.
The outdoor living areas mimic the interior of the home with a wide open feeling of space but with subtle yet distinctly separate living spaces. Privacy is achieved with a wall that in no way feels confining or diminishes the spectacular view from the lounge area. The outdoor dining and fire pit area is large enough to accommodate a dozen guests but still provides an intimate setting that works well for a quiet dinner for two. As the sun sets and the lights of the city begin to glow, every seating area offers a prime spot to take in the magnificent view. The rich cobalt blue of the pool mirrors the blue of the night sky as you enjoy Arizona living at its best.
The use of clean lines in the terraced patio areas as well as the negative edge pool anchor architecture of the home to the outdoor living space.
The solution to the limited space and elevation changes demanded the use of Chris Griffin’s engineering degree to create retaining walls and the structural integrity needed to terrace this property to create multiple UNIQUE outdoor living spaces.
The view from this perfectly located negative edge pool is breathtaking. Unique Companies maximized the function by creating a private lounging area as well as a large open expanse with 180 degree plus views near the front edge of the pool.
Unique Companies designers were able to provide multiple seating areas on the pool terrace even through the square footage is limited. In addition they were able to use the privacy wall to strategically conceal all of the equipment for the pool.
Multiple entertaining areas make this the perfect yard for a summer pool party or just a small gathering of friends.
From the upper terrace the view only gets better. And the single block privacy wall almost disappears in the panoramic view, much like the frames on the wall of windows on the face of home.
The top terrace is the perfect place to enjoy dining al fresco and then relax around the fire. The area easily seats 8 or more and yet offers a cozy and intimate setting.
Another UNIQUE addition to this design is the safety fence around the patio area. The function is clear and in a way so is the fence as it really doesn’t block any of the natural beauty that surrounds this yard.
As you ascend the steps you begin to discover all that awaits you in this amazing backyard. The view of the city is only the beginning of what this property has to offer.
At night this pool comes alive as it mimics the color of the night sky. Relaxing in this magnificent yard, it is easy to believe that you are far above the city on a desolate mountain with no other homes for miles. It truly is a private oasis.
The private seating area offers plenty of space for a small group to relax and enjoy the view of the pool and the city.
In many ways, the basin is the hub of the vanishing edge. Its job isn't merely to store the water that falls into it, but to contain enough water to replenish the pool and plumbing under any given circumstance.
